Well I have been trucking along on a new piece. Here is a sneak peak!
Here are two more pieces I’ve finished this month. Hoping to have the store up and running soon! Both of these works are acrylic paint, pastels, archival ink, and embroidered over the top. Then they are sprayed with a clear lacquer to seal them. The first piece is 12×25 inches and the second is 8×10 inches. Feedback is appreciated!

So as of October 1st, The Weathered Pearl is officially a registered business! I’m so excited for this new chapter of life! My son’s school recently held a silent auction to raise money for different classes and orginazations. I was very happy to be able to donate two original art pieces. I’ve also been approached about doing a substantial piece for the school itself. I feel so very blessed to be able to do what I love! (photo credit: theweatheredpearl)

Sitting in the early morning appreciating womanhood, I wrote this. I wasn’t sure if I’d be sharing much of my personal writing on here. However I’ve decided to go big or get off the internet. So expect more excerpts from my daily journal and perhaps a flip through of my art journal in the near future!

I have arrived to a new chapter in motherhood. My son Martigan will be starting kindergarten in less than a month. I’m not quite sure how to feel about this upcoming change in our life.
On one hand, I’m nervous and have a small sense of dread deep in thepit of my stomach. I keep reminding myself that he is in fact, ready for this, and I’m the one having seperation issues. On the other hand however, I’m looking forward to being able to throw myself into a project completely. Home improvement projects, yard work, even everyday cleaning time will be cut down considerably. I’m literally imagining ,at this moment, all the painting and art I’m gonna get done.
I think once we settle in to a rhythm of sorts, and I stop crying everytime I drop him off, I might finally find the courage to open an online store. I might even talk myself into a few local craft shows. The possibilities are endless. I’m still nervous for my baby, but I’m excited for our family.
Until next time lovelies! Xoxo Katie Pearl
Well, as we all know, life gets hectic. Turns out, my life decided to take a ride on the busy train.
Tomorrow is the silent auction to benefit my friend’s daughter’s pageant trip. I did finally decide what the second contribution would be. I settled on a crochet rag dream catcher. Hopefully that, and the painting will bring in a bit of profit for her.
Here are the finished pieces:

I recently had a friend of mine ask me if I would be interested in donating some of my creations for a silent auction she will be holding in July. The proceeds will go towards funding her daughters trip to nationals for pageant. I’m so happy that I’m able to help. I’ve decided to donate two different projects. The first is a custom painting. The second is still a bit of a mystery. I’m leaning towards crochet, but I’m still open to whatever idea may spring to mind.
This work is entitled “Brave”. The silhouette is a mixture of acrylic and gesso that gives a lovely textured effect in person. The work is mostly in acrylic medium, but I tend to use a mixture of acrylic, pastels, ink, watercolor, as well as sharpie in most of my works. I apologize for the poor photo quality. I plan on taking future pictures with my Nikon instead of my phone. Also excuse my messy work area. The neat freak in me cringes at this very moment. I will be posting an update once this work is complete. Perhaps I will have a better idea of what project two will be by then.

Hello there. Considering this is the very first post of this blog, I should probably start with my name. I’m Katie Pearl and it is so very nice to meet you. I’m 31 years old and I’m a stay at home Mom. I have one son and his name is Martigan. I’m a Texas girl, born and raised. I come from quite a large family and I’m the youngest of 8 children. Well those are the basics. If you’re sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to hear my life story, you’ll have to check back every week for more pieces to my puzzle of a life.
As far as the motivation behind claiming this beautiful piece of Internet real estate, well I’ve decided to start sharing my passion. You see, I’m one of those crafty moms. I know what you’re thinking. “Another one!” Yes I know it seems like the Internet is riddled with crafters, DIY divas, and hand making mommies. However as similar as I may seem to the run of the mill “momtrepreneur”, I can assure you that I genuinely believe I have something to offer the world. Honestly, I’m not quite sure exactly what that something is. Your guess is as good as mine. The point I’m trying to make is, there is always room for one more point of view, one more story, one more opinion, or one more blog. I can only hope that a few lovely people out there decide that they have room for me.
As first posts go, I believe this has gone fairly well. As a new blogger, I am certainly quick to make plans, lists, and promises I may not be able to keep. That being said, I plan on starting out posting once a week. I have not carved any of these ideas in stone as of yet, so please bare with me as I discover what works for me.
Until next time lovelies… Katie Pearl xoxo
